I’ve suffered with psoriasis for more than 30 years. I had a total knee replacement in January 2026 and the trauma of the surgery and recovery caused a big psoriasis flare. I bought the DermaHealer hoping it would help to clear the plaques but to no avail. I’m on holiday in Malta at the minute and even the sun exposure isn’t helping 😫
I will keep persevering with the light therapy on my return. But it looks like I will just have to let this flare run its course.
Thank you for sharing your experience, and we are sorry to hear about the severe flare following your surgery.
Unfortunately, major physical stress such as a knee replacement operation and recovery can sometimes trigger significant psoriasis flares, and these can be particularly difficult to control in the short term.
Please note that UVB phototherapy usually requires consistent treatment over several weeks before improvement becomes visible. In many cases, results are seen after 6–12 weeks, especially during stronger flares.
We hope that with continued gradual treatment and recovery from surgery, your skin condition will begin to improve soon.
We wish you all the best and a good recovery.
I have not used this long enough to know if it will be successful for me, but my dermatologist recommended phototherapy a LONG time ago for my severe eczema (at the time) and pigment loss due to it. My eczema is no longer severe but I am hoping it to help a multitude of issues. QUALITY: I am disappointed in the quality of the device.. It had some defects on plastic, which is not as sturdy as I'd expect for the price, and there was black specks/dust all over it IN the closed packaging. I thought I had gotten a used product to be honest. The goggles are the worst I've ever tried. The string constantly comes off (which hurts) when putting it on. I ended up ordering a different type of goggle which is a lot better quality and don't snap off (for $5.. literally). What I will say is it does feel good, and I am hopeful to use it. Just disappointed in what I paid for quality-wise.
Thank you very much for your detailed and honest feedback.
First, I’d like to reassure you that we only sell brand-new devices. Each unit is manually tested before shipping to ensure it is fully functional. The black specks you noticed are not from prior use — they can occasionally be small plastic particles left from the manufacturing process (housing trimming/drilling). That said, they should normally be cleaned by our production team. We’re sorry this was not done properly in your case.
As for the goggles, thank you for pointing this out. We understand they are basic protective eyewear (made in Germany) and may not suit everyone. We’re glad you found a comfortable alternative.
We’re very happy to hear that the device feels good in use, and we sincerely hope it helps you.
I purchased this for my daughter who suffers with Gutate psoriasis, she’s been waiting over a year for light therapy on the NHS and her feet had gotten so bad she was bed bound. I thought i would take a chance and get her to try this, well ask I can say is wow, what an amazing device, she’s almost clear using it every other day. Best purchase ever

Good morning,
i just wanted to let you know how happy i am with the dermahealer light. i have tried over 6 medications for psoriasis with no improvement. the derma healer light is kind of pricy and i was reluctant to buy it. but i figured i have spent the cost of the appliance 3 times over on medications that did not work. i started using the dermahealer about 3 mos ago and the improvement was slow, almost to the point that i though it wasnt working. but over time, i see the patches improving, almost entirely gone now. i use it 10 minutes per area about every other day. very happy with the results. thank you.
My lamp was delivered yesterday and I am very happy with the fast delivery, it looks very nice this is my review for now as it is too early to say any review whether it helps with my vitiligo treatment or not. I am about to start the treatment now and will be back for more reviews in about 2 months again
Wanted to share my (29 M Latino) vitiligo journey, I have a form that is spotted and is slower in progression. I started through my insurance and dermatology, then went with self laser treatment because of cost.
November 2020: Decided to seek treatment after my Covid infection caused a flare up that was progressing my loss of pigmentation.
— Treatment: Recieced exicmer x50 laser treatments 3x a week. Sessions stopped due to insurance. Requested to resume but denied further treatment per insurance. Last treatment was in early June 2021.
— Results: Personally I felt I achieved repigmentation and felt as if treatment was a success.
Early 2025: I started to notice that I was depigmenting again. I didn’t photograph this well, but I included a photo where you can kind of see the white spot coming in.
UVB laser treatment would cost ~$600 USD a session, thus this isn’t an option anymore. I decided to purchase a DermaHealer Handheld UVB Light Therapy Lamp for $325 (link below).
— Treatment: I followed my similar treatment plan I was doing before. 3x a week with the handheld UVB 311nm narrowband light therapy.
— Results: Started mid-May 2025 and stopped self treatment early July 2025.
Personally I am happy with the self treatment, I achieved the repigmentation I was looking for on my face. Cost effective.

I have a stubborn patch of psoriasis on my forehead. Hundreds of dollars of topicals ineffective. After several treatments the area has faded significantly and the scaling has reduced by 95%. I am doing a treatment about every third or fourth day.
I also have a large patch on my scalp and don’t find it as effective on this area but for the improvement on my forehead it’s worth the purchase, as I was self conscious about this area and didn’t want to go on biologics or injectables.
Many thanks for sharing the treatment results!
Scalp psoriasis presents as a significant burden to patients due to the difficult-to-treat nature of the site.
Phototherapy is an effective option for psoriasis but is limited by a lack of efficient ways to target the scalp in the presence of hair.
The hair blocks UV light from penetrating the scalp. It works best on shaved heads.
Natural sunlight may also help if your head is shaved or hair is thin.
We just completed 15 treatments this morning and we are seeing pigmentation reappear on my 9 year olds vitiligo. The product is easy to use and convenient being at home. So far, I am very happy with this product and the investment we made in it.
Controlling my psoriasis was not working until I got this light. I use some shampoo's and cream. Those items work so much better with light therapy. It stops the excess cell growth. As you can see after 1 week I am getting great results. One more week and I'm going clear! Don't scratch the dead skin off as this can make it worse in my experience. . Let the shower with shampoo naturally clean and remove the dead skin cells. If you have lots of dead skin patches. Use some cream so that the light can make it through the layers. The customer service is A+. I had some questions and got immediate response!! Thank You Thomas from Derma Healer special support!!! He rocks!!
Well I read all the reviews and had a lot of hope as I purchased this for my psoriasis, which I was diagnosed with 10 years ago. I am 10 sessions in and I have yet to see a difference. In fact it seems like it's getting worse and I'm going through a horrid flare up? I'll keep persisting as the instructions do say to give it ~30 treatments. Will update this review again then.
Edit: okay, I'm back after 4 months of consistent usage and the psoriasis is much much much better. The thick lesions on my palms and my feet have calmed down. On my palm, I have FLAT areas where there isn't any flaking at all. I combined topical steroid cream (once a day, very very thin layer), an intensive moisturiser and light therapy to see results. I gotta say, in the beginning I was very skeptical but the results speak for themselves. You just have to wait it out and be consistent. Don't lose hope.
The key to success with phototherapy is consistency. To achieve optimal results, patients must commit to at least 20-40 sessions of treatment depending on the skin type and condition.
About 70-80% of patients with psoriasis, eczema, vitiligo, and other photo-responsive disorders get better with phototherapy. Some people find that phototherapy puts their skin disorder in a 'remittive' or 'quiet' state long past the end of the treatment.

My son started suffering from systemic allergic skin reactions, I believe to all nightshade vegetables. This includes tomatoes, potatoes and peppers...even "spices" and potato starch in foods. Topical steroids did nothing. I needed a solution to calm his immune system of his skin down. I believe this allergic reaction is temporary. We stayed off all nightshades and prepared foods very strictly...but there were too many "fillers" in foods. I needed something else. I thought the principles of the light could be applied to him. We have finished 3 weeks and it has been a great journey. I hope after another 3 weeks we can try reintroducing some foods again. The light has improved his skin about 60% already.
I used this following the instructions. I think my machine was faulty because it frequently had flashing lights and the frequency seemed to change. I advanced the duration over a 5 day period. This happened to one spot and I got a second degree burn. I used the same amount of time of other places and there was zero difference in the skin color. I don’t know what happened! I used the correct distance in the chart. The blister that formed is where the psoriasis spot was.
Thank you for reaching out and sharing your experience with the phototherapy lamp. I’m sorry to hear about the sunburn you experienced and appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns.
I - Phototherapy lamp is NOT damaged if the bulb flickers when it is first turned on. Flickering during startup is a common characteristic of fluorescent lamps. It is normal Warm-Up Process: during the initial ignition, the starter and ballast work to ionize the gas inside the lamp. Flickering is typical until the gas stabilizes and the lamp reaches full brightness.
II - Phototherapy is designed to deliver safe and therapeutic light exposure, but reactions can vary depending on individual skin sensitivity, exposure duration, and other factors such as skin type or pre-existing conditions. It’s possible that certain areas of your skin may have been more sensitive to the light, leading to the uneven response you described.
The varying reactions of different parts of the skin to a phototherapy lamp, even under identical time settings, can be attributed to several factors:
1. Skin Thickness and Sensitivity
Thinner Skin: Areas with thinner skin (e.g., face, neck, inner arms) are more sensitive to light and can burn more easily.
Thicker Skin: Thicker skin (e.g., palms, soles, and outer arms) is less sensitive and may require more exposure to achieve the same effect.
2. Melanin Distribution
Melanin Levels: Different parts of the body have varying levels of melanin, which affects the skin's natural protection against UV radiation. Areas with less melanin are more prone to sunburn.
Sun-Exposed Areas: Skin frequently exposed to the sun (face, hands) might already have higher melanin levels due to tanning, providing slightly more protection.
3. Pre-existing Skin Conditions
Sensitive Areas: Skin that is dry, damaged, or affected by conditions like eczema or psoriasis may react more strongly to phototherapy.
Healing Rates: Some areas of the skin may have ongoing inflammation or sensitivity due to recent healing or irritation.
5. Moisture and Products on Skin
Topical Applications: Lotions, oils, or medications on certain parts of the skin can increase sensitivity to light by acting as photosensitizers.
Dry Skin: Conversely, dry skin can burn more easily because it has less protective barrier function.
6. Natural Variability in Skin Response
Genetic Differences: The skin's reaction to UV or visible light varies due to genetic factors, which can affect different parts of the body differently.
To help prevent this from happening in the future, here are some recommendations:
Gradual Exposure: If you are new to phototherapy, consider reducing the exposure time slightly for your next session and gradually building up (based on your dermatologist's recommendations)
Protect Sensitive Areas: Cover sensitive spots (like the face or neck) or apply sunscreen as advised by your healthcare provider.
Moisturize: Applying a neutral, non-sensitizing moisturizer can help maintain the skin’s barrier and reduce sensitivity.
III. Suggested Care for Sunburned Skin area:
- Cool the Skin:
Gently apply a cool, damp cloth to soothe the affected area. Avoid using hot water, as it can further irritate the skin.
- Moisturize Frequently:
Use a fragrance-free, hydrating moisturizer or an aloe vera gel to keep the skin hydrated. This can help soothe irritation and support the skin’s natural healing process.
- Stay Hydrated:
Drink plenty of water to support your skin’s recovery and prevent dryness.
- Pause the treatment until healing process is over
Keep the affected areas out of direct sunlight and wear protective clothing if you need to go outdoors.

This review does not pertain to the product but rather focuses on the company's actions. Following my purchase, my doctor recommended a different treatment for my condition, prompting me to return the product unopened. Upon contacting the company, I was informed that I needed to cover the cost of the return label and provide the return address. I proceeded to send back the parcel, initiated a return on Klarna, and provided the tracking number for verification.
A month later, Klarna reached out to inquire about the refund status, as I had not yet received it, despite evidence from the tracking information confirming delivery of the parcel. Upon contacting the company regarding the delay, I received a curt response:
‘Hello,
the reason your refund was not processed on time was that you did not
follow the instructions provided in our email.
We have NOT received the tracking number from you as requested in the
return instructions (see PDF attached).
Then instead of contacting us you have filed a chargeback with Klarna.
Now you have to wait until Klarna process your refund.
We have returned your payment to Klarna.
Thanks
Thomas’
I am taken aback by the company's requirement for a tracking number in order to issue a refund. In the United Kingdom, online businesses are mandated to comply with the Consumer Rights Act 2015, which entitles consumers to specific rights when making purchases online. According to this act, companies are obligated to refund customers promptly and without unreasonable delay upon receiving the returned item. Requesting a tracking number should not be a prerequisite for issuing a refund.
Thanks for your feedback. Our return policy is simple and straightforward. We ask for return tracking number to speed up the refund process. All returns are processed by our logistics partner and ensuring that each return is linked to a particular tracking number allows us to manage refunds more efficiently (in 1-2 days). Customers can return items to us within 60 days of purchase for a refund. We do not charge any restocking fees. We received a charge-back from Klarna without any prior communication or inquiry about the return status.
Follow the user manual, I didn't think I would get a sunburn
I am so happy with my purchase of Dermahealer Compact. It was the most cost-effective home UVB device I found, and it did the job perfectly. Instructions were very clear. After about 35 treatment sessions, my psoriasis is down by 80-90% and seems to be on the path to complete remission (though I am tapering down the treatment frequency at this point to avoid risks from long-term use). Even my dermatologist was impressed. Thank you for this product.
What a difference this device has made in the treatment of my psoriasis. My psoriasis first developed after I started taking Metoprolol following a heart attack. Over time it has spead mostly to my legs below the knee. Around the same time of my purchase of your DermaHealer, under the guidance of my Cardiologist, i weaned myself of that drug. I am delighted my Psoriasis has lessened dramatically since i started using your product but , quite frankly, I am uncertain as to which action has brought me relief. I will keep you posted as to my longterm progress.
Communication is great, with fast responses and speedy delivery.
I requested to return the item as I felt it was not suitable for us, and the seller was very helpful and processed the refund quickly.
I really appreciate it. Thank you so much, Thomas!
I have had a very large patch of psoriasis on my ankle for about ten years. I’ve tried many natural and conventional remedies with little to no help. I am about three and a half weeks into treatment and have seen about a quarter of the patch cleared. I anticipate it will start clearing even faster cause I have worked up to four minutes for each session and treatment seems to be progressing faster. Very thankful for this product!
Product is helping along with medication. Definitely would recommend this unit.
I wrote a 30 day review and because I think this product is so important I wanted to also write a 60 day review. At 30 days I had not seen improvement. I have scalp psoriasis and a type II or fair skin. For me dermatologist products have not helped me at all and irritate my skin. I followed the instructions for this and did a very gradual increase which I think is important. I use it every other day or every two days and now am up to 2 min and 45 seconds per area. I now have about 70% clearance which is huge for me. I have not had this much clearance in 5 years. I am hoping my results continue. I mentioned in my last review the beep noise and was able to turn it off, which I feel silly I missed it in the directions.
I have had less hair fall in addition to less skin irritation and flaking, which makes me happy. I was going to try a biologic but really didn’t want to because of the side effects and this was my last thing to try before that, and I am so glad I did. I also haven’t noticed any irritation or darkening or changes with any nearby skin, which is also good. We are coming into spring which is a clearer time for me, so I am looking forward to seeing how the fall and winter goes. It is definitely worth it to add to my care routine because for me the results are life changing. I hope you get some relief too, for me it took consistency for two months so know it does take time.
It seems to be working .Hope it continues.
Has relieved rash and itch symptoms
Using for scalp psoriasis, I’ve been using it consistently for 1 month and so far no results for me, but I know it says it can take 8-12 weeks so I will continue to try. A couple things you should know is that the beeping on the unit is very loud, so since it’s by my head I wear ear plugs when I use it. Also, you can’t see when you have the UV goggles on, they are very dark, so you need to be able to get everything lined up before hand. I’m up to 2 minutes per area, which I have about 6-8 to do since I have such thick hair to part, so it takes about half hour with the reparting of the hair and getting the glasses on etc. my husband helped me once and it was way easier since the back I can’t see, but he isn’t always available and since you need to do this every other day or every two days, it’s a time commitment. I can’t use any of the dermatologist products because my skin is so reactive to the cheap ingredients and I don’t want to use steroids and really don’t want to use a biologic, so, this is my last hope option so I really hope I start to see some results soon. It is nice that you don’t have to have any goopy oils or products that make your hair look terrible so that is a win. I know I won’t be able to rerun it if it doesn’t work since the return policy is only for completely unused products, which is disappointing since it’s so pricy. Hopefully in another 30 days I will see results!
My tips if you are using it for scalp:
Put sunscreen on your face first
Do it on wet hair so it parts easier
Section your hair out first
Wear earplugs for the beeping
Have someone help you if you can
Watch an area after each treatment to see if it is getting red so you don’t overdo it
Use a lightweight moisturizer (I use Seen scalp serum because it doesn’t clog pores) for dryness
Use a gentle shampoo and don’t scratch or pick because UV on damaged skin is not good! I gently brush and comb and use a tea tree shampoo to get rid of the flakes.
Be consistent because like I said even though I haven’t seen results I know I have to commit to the routine and finding the duration and frequency that might work for at least 6-8 weeks…..
Don’t give up trying to heal your skin! :)
Thank you for your detailed review and for sharing your experience.
A few notes that may be helpful:
- The beeping sound can be turned off (see User Manual, page 10).
- The UV goggles are manufactured from dark glass to properly protect the eyes from UV exposure.
- Scalp treatment is usually the most difficult area, especially with thick hair, because the hair needs to be parted so the light can reach the skin. Many users find it much easier when assisted by another person, particularly for the back of the head.
Also, please note that we offer a 60-day money-back guarantee.
Thank you again for sharing your tips with other users, and we hope you begin to see improvement over the coming weeks.
It's a slow process but it does seem to be helping.
